LASIODORA 1640 Brazil - The First Tarantula Spider

Written and directed by the veteran tarantula collector and researcher Andrew Smith, 1640 is a grownup arachnohistory documentary which takes three Dutch seventeenth century paintings of tarantula spiders and then goes to Brazil in search of the spiders in the images. The documentary includes the first footage ever filmed of the big Lasiodora bird-eaters and the beautiful arboreal tree tarantulas Iridopelma and Pachistopelma. It also includes footage of Theraphosa blondi. We are not talking about spiders in tanks. In this documentary you are out there with us in the field. You can smell the sweat it's so real! Filmed in HD, it looks great on a big screen.

Length: 105 minutes.
